Enslaved people arriving from Africa to Brazil were required to undergo a process of catechization. To protect and preserve their faith, they began to associate their Orixás with Catholic saints, allowing them to celebrate their beliefs more discreetly.
One of the most well-known associations is that of Saint George and Ogum, due to the many similarities between them, despite belonging to different religions.
On April 23rd, both Ogum and Saint George are celebrated. Both are highly sought after for help in solving problems, warding off injustices and enemies, and opening paths.

TAPE PROJECT
In 2013, during the process of developing a more personal body of work, I began experimenting with different materials and surfaces, offering a new perspective on adhesive tapes: duct tape, silvertape, washi tape, electrical tape, and others.
From this experimentation, Tape Project was born –a series of artworks in various sizes, detail-rich pieces, formed by precise x-acto blade cuts and a vibrant color palette.
With every piece of tape, elements such as graffiti and cordel, woodcut and street art, pop and traditional, digital and handmade overlap – all coming together in an original and dynamic form of art.
I invite you to visit www.tapeproject.art and find out more about my artistic work.
